  5. What Does Addit! Do?

  7. Addit! automatically installs user created addons for Microsoft Flight
  8. Simulator 5.
  9.  
  10. Addit! can safely install a wide variety of addon files including 
  11. aircraft, scenery, textures, situations, videos, sounds, panels and 
  12. panel parts.  And Addit! tucks way other files, such as documents, for
  13. safe-keeping.  Addit! keeps track of everything so removing an addon 
  14. you don't like is easy and safe.

  16. With Addit!, you'll never have to manually copy files into your Flight
  17. Simulator 5 directories again!  That's done for you.  Addit! 
  18. intelligently installs them.  Just point to the addon files (and 
  19. Addit! can help you find them) and click Install.  That's it!

  51. Which Operating Systems Can Run Addit!?

  53. Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11, Windows for Workgroups 3.11 or Windows 95.

  57. What Software Do I Need?

  59. Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.0, Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.0A or 
  60. Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.1.

  70. Should I Do Anything Before Installing Addit!?
  71. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  72. If possible, start with a clean copy of Flight Simulator 5 (and Flight 
  73. Shop if you have it).  This way, Addit! can keep track of all your 
  74. addons and will be able to remove them safely.  If you already have 
  75. addons installed and don't want to lose them, it's still alright to 
  76. install Addit!.  Just keep in mind Addit! won't be able to uninstall
  77. any of your pre-existing addons.

  79. Also, close down all other applications before running SETUP.EXE.

  81. What Does Setup Do?
  82. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  83. The Setup program installs Addit! to a drive/directory of your choice.
  84. Setup also makes copies of several Flight Simulator 5 directories.  
  85. Because of this, you'll need quite a bit of hard disk space.  Exactly
  86. how much depends on which version of Flight Simulator 5 and Flight 
  87. Shop you have and how many extra files you have installed.

  89. Setup will automatically create an Addit! Program Group for Windows 
  90. 3.x users or Start menu\Programs folder for Windows 95 users.

  92. How Does Setup Affect Windows?

  94. Setup will place THREED.VBX, MSAFINX.DLL and VBRUN300.DLL in your 
  95. Windows \SYSTEM directory.  It will update older versions but won't 
  96. overwrite anything more recent.

  98. Anything Else I Should Know?

  100. Addit! is designed to work with a single copy of Flight Simulator 5.  
  101. If you have several copies of Flight Simulator 5 installed, use Addit! 
  102. with only one.

  104. OK!  Now How Do I Install Addit!?
  105. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  106. Just run SETUP.EXE!

  108. How Do I Uninstall Addit!?
  109. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  110. 1)  Consider uninstalling all addons first.  You may leave them 
  111.     installed but you'll have to remove them manually if you ever want
  112.     to get rid of them.
  113. 2)  Delete the Addit! directories from your hard drive.
  114. 3)  Delete the Addit! Program Group (Windows 3.x users); Remove the 
  115.     Addit! folder from Windows\Start Menu\Programs (Windows 95 users).
  116. 4)  Delete THREED.VBX, MSAFINX.DLL and VBRUN300.DLL from your Windows 
  117.     \SYSTEM directory only if they're not being used by other 
  118.     applications.  If you're not sure, just leave them installed.
